RESUMO

Capacitive deionization (CDI) is considered a promising technology for desalination of sea or brackish water. In this study, a ZnS/g-C3N4 composite was synthesized through a one-step high-temperature method and used as the main material to fabricate CDI electrodes. The results of SEM and TEM showed that spherical-like nanoparticles of ZnS were uniformly distributed on the g-C3N4 sheet. The g-C3N4 phase facilitates the ZnS particles precipitate and restrain their agglomeration, which contributes to a high specific surface area of ZnS. Furthermore, the electrochemical test results indicated that ZnS/g-C3N4 composite had a good capacitance characteristic, low resistance, and high electrochemical stability. Finally, the desalinization performance of the ZnS/g-C3N4 composite electrodes was tested in traditional mode and membrane capacitive deionization (MCDI) mode. The results showed that ZnS/g-C3N4//ZnS/g-C3N4 (MCDI) exhibited an optimal desalination capacity. The adsorption amount was 27.65, 50.26, and 65.34 mg/g for NaCl initial concentration of 200, 400, and 600 mg/L, respectively, with the voltage of 1.2 V and flow rate of 5 mL/min. Increasing initial concentration enhanced the conductivity and ion migration rate so as to increase the NaCl adsorption amount. ZnS/g-C3N4 composite can be used as potential electrode material for high performance of MCDI.

RESUMO

Gastric cancer is a malignant tumor with high incidence and death rate. Every year, Approximately 950,000 new cases of gastric cancer occur globally with nearly 700000 deaths,so gastric precancerous lesions(GPL) was crucial and important. At present, the effective diagnostic methods for gastric precancerous lesions are generally gastroscope and pathological changes of gastric mucosal, but those methods were invasive and would bring some pains to patients and not suitable for frequent and large-scale screening of gastric cancer or GPL.This study aimed to look for a sensitive, effective and non-invasive diagnostic method to improve the early diagnosis rate of GLP, and thereby reduce the incidence and death rate of gastric cancer.Tongue diagnosis is one of the classic diagnostic methods in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM).The tongue was closely related to the spleen and stomach. In the study, we collected 133 patients with chronic gastritis, including 53 cases in inflammatory group, 31 cases in atrophic group, and 49 cases in intestinal metaplasia group. and we analyzed the correlation between tongue, microbiota of tongue coating and clinical symptoms of GLP.The results showed that greasy coating was closely related to the intestinal metaphase of patients, indicating that greasy coating was closed link with intestinal metaphase phase of patients.Abundance of 209 genus were significant differences between greasy and non-greasy coating in intestinal metaphase phase of patients, Top10 were Streptococcus,norank_p__Saccharibacteria,Alloprevotella, Atopobium, Megasphaera, Gemella, Moraxella,unclassified_f__Prevotellaceae, Solobacterium and Stomatobaculum. Alloprevotella and Streptococcus were important genus markers and Alloprevotella was selected as a potential oral biomarker to diagnose intestinal metaphase phase of patients, the AUC value is 0.74.

RESUMO

In this work, a novel flow-electric field coupling configuration was designed and implemented for enhancing Zn-Cd cementation. A series of tests was conducted to explore the optimization of the Zn-Cd cementation process and its mechanism. Firstly, the various characteristics of the sponge cadmium at various locations in the device were compared, and it was concluded that the optimum purity of the sponge cadmium obtained from the anode was up to 94.1%. The generation and stripping of the cadmium sponge was revealed for the first time by cross-sectional electron microscopy. The four stages of the apparent reaction in the system were analyzed in relation to the pH, cadmium concentration and cadmium sponge flaking at each flow rate. It was proved that the separation of cadmium sponge mainly occurred in the third phase. Secondly, by comparing the morphology and specific surface area of the cadmium sponge at different flow rates, the optimum flow field velocity was identified as 30 mL/s. At this point, the specific surface area reached a maximum of 1.151 m2/g. Six flow field configurations were compared and preferred. The results demonstrated that the LCAH (Low-Cathode-Anode-High) modulation resulted in a sparser structure of the cadmium sponge, which was more easily exfoliated from the zinc anode surface by fluid impact. This was considered to be the most beneficial flow field configuration for improving the cadmium cementation rate and reducing the cost of the reaction. Moreover, the reaction steps of the system were analyzed. Its rate-limiting step was initially empirically identified as the diffusion step and proven by calculating the activation energy of 12.6 kJ/mol. It was confirmed that the diffusion process under different flow field configurations followed the first-order kinetic principle. In addition, the system's reaction phases were compared. Calculations confirmed that the diffusion process under various flow field configurations followed first-order kinetics. The diffusion coefficient of LACH proved to be the highest in the comparative tests, and the evident experimental results supported this conclusion.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Acquired chemo-drug resistance constantly led to the failure of chemotherapy for malignant cancers, consequently causing cancer relapse. Hence, identifying the biomarker of drug resistance is vital to improve the treatment efficacy in cancer. The clinical prognostic value of CYP24A1 remains inconclusive, hence we aim to evaluate the association between CYP24A1 and the drug resistance in cancer patients through a meta-analysis approach. METHOD: Relevant studies detecting the expression or SNP of CYP24A1 in cancer patients up till May 2022 were systematically searched in four common scientific databases including PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane library and ISI Web of Science. The pooled hazard ratios (HRs) indicating the ratio of hazard rate of survival time between CYP24A1high population vs CYP24A1low population were calculated. The pooled HRs and odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were used to explore the association between CYP24A1's expression or SNP with survival, metastasis, recurrence, and drug resistance in cancer patients. RESULT: Fifteen studies were included in the meta-analysis after an initial screening according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. There was a total of 3784 patients pooled from all the included studies. Results indicated that higher expression or SNP of CYP24A1 was significantly correlated with shorter survival time with pooled HRs (95% CI) of 1.21 (1.12, 1.31), metastasis with pooled ORs (95% CI) of 1.81 (1.11, 2.96), recurrence with pooled ORs (95% CI) of 2.14 (1.45, 3.18) and drug resistance with pooled HRs (95% CI) of 1.42 (1.17, 1.68). In the subgroup analysis, cancer type, treatment, ethnicity, and detection approach for CYP24A1 did not affect the significance of the association between CYP24A1 expression and poor prognosis. CONCLUSION: Findings from our meta-analysis demonstrated that CYP24A1's expression or SNP was correlated with cancer progression and drug resistance. Therefore, CYP24A1 could be a potential molecular marker for cancer resistance.

RESUMO

The purpose of this study was to optimize the extraction conditions for separating Co2+ from Ni2+ using N-butylamine phosphinate ionic liquid of [C4H9NH3][Cyanex 272]. A Box-Behnken design of response surface methodology was used to analyze the effects of the initial pH, extraction time, and extraction temperature on the separation factor of Co2+ from sulfuric acid solution containing Ni2+. The concentrations of Co2+ and Ni2+ in an aqueous solution were determined using inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry. The optimized extraction conditions were as follows: an initial pH of 3.7, an extraction time of 55.8 min, and an extraction temperature of 330.4 K. The separation factor of Co2+ from Ni2+ under optimized extraction conditions was 66.1, which was very close to the predicted value of 67.2, and the error was 1.7%. The equation for single-stage extraction with high reliability can be used for optimizing the multi-stage extraction process of Co2+ from Ni2+. The stoichiometry of chemical reaction for ion-exchange extraction was also investigated using the slope method.

RESUMO

MicroRNA (miR)126 is known to inhibit inflammatory responses in various inflammatoryrelated diseases, but its role during the cerebral ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury remains unknown. The present study aimed to examine the interaction between miR126 and RAB3A interacting protein (RAB3IP), and explore its potential protective effects during I/R injury. The human neuroblastoma cell line SHSY5Y was cultured in an oxygenglucose deprivation/reoxygenation (OGD/R) environment to simulate I/R injury to assess miR126 expression and cell viability. SHSY5Y cells cultured in normal conditions were used as a negative control (NC) group. SHSY5Y cells were transfected with a miR126 mimic or an NC mimic, then cultured in OGD/R conditions; in rescue experiments, SHSY5Y cells were cotransfected with RAB3IP overexpression or NC plasmid together with mimicNC or mimicmiR, and then maintained in an OGD/R environment to evaluate miR126, RAB3IP expression, cell viability and apoptosis. Cell viability was reduced in the Model group compared with the NC group, suggesting the successful construction of the OGD/R model. miR126 expression was downregulated in the Model group compared with the NC group. However, following transfection with mimicmiR, cell viability increased compared with the mimicNC group. Annexin V and PI staining and Hoechst/PI assays also indicated that apoptosis was reduced in the mimicmiR group compared with the mimicNC group. RAB3IP expression was reduced following mimicmiR transfection. In rescue experiments, miR126 negatively regulated RAB3IP expression; by contrast, RAB3IP did not affect that of miR126. In addition, RAB3IP overexpression attenuated the protective effect of miR126 on OGD/Rinduced apoptosis. These findings suggest that miR126 protects against cerebral I/R injury by targeting RAB3IP.

RESUMO

This paper is concerned with the effect of the chemical bond on the electrosorption and desorption of anions during capacitive deionization (CDI). An empirical equation developed firstly based on the experimental data in the electrosorption of Cl-. The empirical equation shows that the electrosorption capacity exhibits a logarithmic relationship with anode potential. Electrosorption of ReO4- and NO3- at different anode potentials were studied and the obtained data used to compare with empirical equation. The empirical equation provided results that were in good agreement with experimental data. According to parameters (A and b) of empirical equation, the chemical bond mainly affected adsorption mechanism and desorption performance. For Cl- with the weaker chemical bond, the main mechanism of electrosorption of Cl- is formation of electrical double layers and the desorption is easier, while for ReO4-, the main adsorption mechanism is chemical bonding and adsorbed anion basically fail to desorb at the equal conditions with Cl-. The revelation of all the CDI performance here would appear to be a useful tool for selection of more suitable electrodes materials to improve adsorption capacity and desorption efficiency of anions.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To study the effects of rutin on myocardial enzyme in serum and myocardial morphology in diabetic mice induced by streptozotocin (STZ). METHODS: A model of type 1 diabetic mice was established in 48 male kunming mice with daily intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin (STZ) 62.5 mg/kg for 5 consecutive days. 12 male Kunming mice were selected as normal group randomly. The established successfully diabetic mice were randomly divided into the model group, irbesartan group [45 mg/ (kg?d)], low-, high-dose rutin groups [50, 100 mg/ (kg?d)]. The mice in the normal and the model groups were given sodium carboxymethyl cellulose solution (CMC-Na, 1 g/L) by intragastric administration respectively. After administration for 8 weeks, the levels of creatine kinase (CK), creatine kinase isoenzymes (CK-MB), hydroxybutyrate dehydrogenase (HBDH), and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) in serum were detected by blood biochemical analyzer. The cardiac myocardial morphology was observed by HE staining, Masson trichrome staining and electron microscope. RESULTS: Compare to the normal group, the levels of the myocardial enzyme in serum evidently increased in the model group (P<0.01); Compare to the model group, the levels of the myocardial enzyme in serum decreased in low-, high-dose rutin groups; The levels of HBDH and LDH declined remarkably in the high-dose rutin group relative to the low-dose group (P<0.05); Compared to the high-dose group, the level of LDH increased in the irbesartan group (P<0.05).Moreover, relative to the model group, the morphology of myocardial tissue, the degree of fibrosis and the ultrastructure of myocardial tissue in mice were significantly improved in low-, high-dose rutin groups, and the effects were more significant in the high-dose rutin group. CONCLUSION: Rutin could decrease the levels of myocardial enzyme in serum in diabetic mice, improve the cardiac cell morphology and alleviate myocardial injury.

RESUMO

The effect of electronegativity on the electrosorption selectivity of anions during capacitive deionization was investigated via a combination of experimental and theoretical studies. A model was developed based on chemical thermodynamics and the classic Stern's model to reveal the role of the anode potential and to describe electrosorption selectivity behavior during capacitive deionization. The effects of the anode potential on the adsorption of Cl- and ReO4- were studied and the obtained data were used to validate the model. Using the validated model, the effects of the anode potential and electronegativity of various anions, including Cl-, ReO4-, SO42- and NO3- were assessed. The experimental results for the electrosorption of Cl- and ReO4- corresponded well with the developed model. The electrosorption capacity demonstrates a logarithmic relationship with the anode potential. The model showed that the electronegativity significantly affects the selectivity. In a mixed Cl-, ReO4-, SO42- and NO3- solution, ReO4- was preferentially adsorbed over the other three anions, and the following selectivity was exhibited: ReO4- > NO3- > Cl- > SO42-. The results showed that the effect of flow rates on the electrosorption selectivity can be considered negligible when the flow rates are higher than 112 mL min-1. The anions selectivity can be further enhanced by increasing the anode potential, and electrosorption selectivity is no appreciable decline after 6 experiments.

RESUMO

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), tongue diagnosis (TD) has been an important diagnostic method for the last 3000 years. Tongue coating can be used as a very sensitive marker to determine the progress of chronic gastritis. Therefore, the scientific, qualitative, and quantitative study for the pathophysiologic basis of tongue coating (TC) emerged as a major direction for the objective research of TD. In our current report, we used GC/MS technology to determine the potential changes of metabolites and identify special metabolic biomarkers in the TC of H. pylori infected chronic gastritis patients. Four discriminative metabolites were identified by GC/MS between the TC of H. pylori infection (G + H) and without H. pylori infection (G - H) patients: ethylene, cephaloridine, γ-aminobutyric acid, and 5-pyroglutamic acid, indicating that changes in amino acid metabolism are possibly involved in the formation of TC, and the amino acid metabolites are part of the material components of TC in G + H patients.

RESUMO

A unified design for a 1×2 beam splitter of dielectric rectangular transmission gratings under the second Bragg incidence is theoretically investigated for TE- and TM-polarized light. The empirical equations of the relative grating parameters (ratio of the absolute one to incidence wavelength) for this design are also obtained with the simplified modal method (SMM). The influences of polarization of incident light and relative grating parameters on the performance of the beam splitter are thoroughly studied based on the SMM and rigorous coupled-wave analysis. Two specific gratings are demonstrated with an even split and high diffraction efficiency (>94% for TE polarization and >97% for the TM counterpart). The unified profiles of the 1×2 beam splitter are independent from the incidence wavelength since the refractive index of fused silica is roughly a constant over a wide range of wavelengths, which should be promising for future applications.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To explore characteristic of pulse signal to distinguish patients with coronary heart diseases (CHD) from patients without CHD and healthy adults, and accordingly evaluate the potential role of pulse signal to diagnosis CHD. METHODS: Totally 407 patients enrolled from 4 collaborating medical centers were assigned to a CHD group (205 patients) and a non-CHD group (202 patients). The healthy control group (62 adults) enrolled from Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Pulse signals were collected using the synchronous multiplex pulse signal acquisition system. The pulse signals were analyzed and extracted using Hilbert-Huang transformation (HHT) and time-domain, respectively. The time-domain parameters of pulse signal were processed by the analysis of variance (SNK test). RESULTS: Special patterns in the CHD group pulse signal were found in this study: (1) time-domain parameters of pulse signal, h1, h3, h4, h3/h1, ts, t4/t were increased and w was wider; (2) 44% of C2 waves in HHT were chaotic and disordered and 72% of C waves were exhibited irregularly with average amplitude over 10 g-forces, which were all significantly different from controls. CONCLUSION: Characteristic wave and time-domain parameters of pulse signal were extracted using HHT and time-domain which could be served as a non-invasive approach for assessing patients with CHD.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), tongue diagnosis has been an important diagnostic method for the last 3000 years. Tongue diagnosis is a non-invasive, simple and valuable diagnostic tool. TCM treats the tongue coating on a very sensitive scale that reflects physiological and pathological changes in the organs, especially the spleen and stomach. Tongue coating can diagnose disease severity and determine the TCM syndrome ("Zheng" in Chinese). The biological bases of different tongue coating appearances are still poorly understood and lack systematic investigation at the molecular level. METHODS: Tongue coating samples were collected from 70 chronic gastritis patients and 20 normal controls. 16S rRNA denatured gradient gel electrophoresis (16S rRNA-DGGE) and liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry (LC-MS) were designed to profile tongue coatings. The statistical techniques used were principal component analysis and partial least squares-discriminate analysis. RESULTS: Ten potential metabolites or markers were found in chronic gastritis patients, including UDP-D-galactose, 3-ketolactose, and vitamin D2, based on LC-MS. Eight significantly different strips were observed in samples from chronic gastritis patients based on 16S rRNA-DGGE. Two strips, Strips 8 and 10, were selected for gene sequencing. Strip 10 sequencing showed a 100% similarity to Rothia mucilaginosa. Strip 8 sequencing showed a 96.2% similarity to Moraxella catarrhalis. CONCLUSIONS: Changes in glucose metabolism could possibly form the basis of tongue coating conformation in chronic gastritis patients. The study revealed important connections between metabolic components, microecological components and tongue coating in chronic gastritis patients. Compared with other diagnostic regimens, such as blood tests or tissue biopsies, tongue coating is more amenable to, and more convenient for, both patients and doctors.

RESUMO

A fast algorithm with low memory usage is proposed to generate the hologram for full-color 3D display based on a compressed look-up table (C-LUT). The C-LUT is described and built to reduce the memory usage and speed up the calculation of the computer-generated hologram (CGH). Numerical simulations and optical experiments are performed to confirm this method, and several other algorithms are compared. The results show that the memory usage of the C-LUT is kept low when number of depth layers of the 3D object is increased, and the time for building the C-LUT is independent of the number of depth layers of the 3D object. The algorithm based on C-LUT is an efficient method for saving memory usage and calculation time, and it is expected that it could be used for realizing real-time and full-color 3D holographic display in the future.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To explore the changes in metabolites in the greasy tongue coating in patients with chronic gastritis. METHODS: Forty chronic gastritis patients presenting with greasy tongue coating, 30 chronic gastritis patients presenting with non-greasy tongue coating, and 20 healthy control persons presenting with light red tongues and thin white coating were enrolled, and the tongue coating was detected by combining artificial diagnosis and the Z-BOX Tongue Digital Analyzer's diagnosis. Samples of all the tongue coatings were collected before treatment. The metabolic fingerprinting of the tongue coating samples was obtained using ultra-performance liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS), and the metabolic components in the tongue coating samples were detected. After this, principal component analysis, partial least squares discriminant analysis and orthogonal partial least squares discriminant analysis (OPLS-DA) were used to identify potential metabolic markers. Finally, the components were identified using the Chemspider and HMDB searching. RESULTS: UPLC-MS results were analyzed by OPLS-DA and showed that the metabolites among the three groups were distributed in different regions. The different potential metabolic markers between the patients with or without greasy coating were 3-ketolactose, 2-deoxy-D-ribose, UDP-D-galactose metarhodopsin, ascorbate, picolinate and histidine. The different potential metabolic markers between the greasy coating group and the normal group were 3-ketolactose, UDP-D-galactose, leukotriene A4 and vitamin D(2). CONCLUSION: The metabolites of the greasy coating group, the non-greasy coating group and the normal group show significant differences in energy metabolism, mainly of glucose metabolism. This demonstrated that glucose metabolism may be one of the mechanisms leading to the formation of greasy coating.

RESUMO

The micro-behaviours of shock ignition of epoxypropane were studied by OMA (optical multii channal system) and monochromator techniques. The radicals O, CH2O, C2, CH, CH3O, CO2 and H2O were observed by OMA spectrometer. The delay time and critical condition of shock ignition were determined using three monochromators and gauge. The emergence of intermediate product of O for epoxypropane after shock ignition is always the earliest.

RESUMO

After solving problems of the synchronization of the measuring system, the detection of weak light, and the avoidance of false trigger signal, the instantaneous emission spectra of epoxypropane in the process of deflagration to detonation transition (DDT) with the exposure time of 1-16 micros and the resolution of 0.2 nm were measured. The spectra were acquired from side windows of an explosion shock tube 0.1 m in inner diameter and 4.0 m in length. The measuring system is made up of an intensified spectroscopic detector ICCD, a SpectraPro-275 spectrograph, and a digital delay generator DG535. By analyzing the spectra obtained, the reaction products OH, CH, C2, C3, CO, CO2, CHO and CH2O were identified according to their characteristic electronic and vibrational bands, which indicates that these molecules and radicals were produced during the DDT process of epoxypropane. The determination of reaction products can provide experimental basis for analyzing and understanding the microscopic mechanism of DDT process.
